Redbull Bcone Rotterdam Cypher (June 4th 2017)

See you in Rotterdam?

Featured is pleased to announce its partnership with McDonalds Bboy Royal.

NEW YORK , NY – McDonald’s New York Tri-State is proud to announce the return of the city’s largest annual breakdance tournament, McDonald’s B-Boy Royale, on August 26 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Now in its fourth year, the event will feature eight leading crews from across the U.S. and Canada competing for a $5,000 grand prize and the 2017 championship title. Breakdance legend Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colón, president of the Rock Steady Crew –an iconic b-boy group founded in the Bronx in 1977—will serve as the lead judge. In addition to the main competition, the tournament will also celebrate the introduction of breaking as an official sport at the 2018 Youth Olympics by paying tribute to the street dance’s pioneers and its New York City roots.

General admission tickets go on sale April 12, 2017 at 10 AM local time at the NYU Skirball Center website and box office. Ticket prices are $22.50 for adults and $17.50 for children (12 and under) and seniors. From now through April 25, ticket buyers can receive $5 off each purchase using presale code BBOYW. All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area (RMHC-NYTSA), a non-profit organization that provides needed stability and resources to children and their families.

2016 McDonald’s B-Boy Royale champions Last Samurai –comprised of members from New York, Massachusetts and Minnesota– will return to defend their title against seven award-winning groups making their B-Boy Royale premieres. The event will also feature surprise guests, music performances and the presentation of the 2017 McDonald’s B-Boy Royale Lifetime Achievement Award.

“It’s an honor to be part of McDonald’s B-Boy Royale on the 40th anniversary of Rock Steady Crew,” said lead judge Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colón, who was the inaugural recipient of the B-Boy Royale Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. “This year’s tournament offers a great platform to celebrate the history –and future– of breaking in the city where it all began.”

Our participation in McDonald’s B-Boy Royale provides us with a unique opportunity to promote the work and mission of RMHC to diverse communities across the Tri-State area and beyond,” commented Christopher Perry, Executive Director of RMHC-NYTSA. “We’re proud to be the charitable beneficiary of this wonderful event, which empowers young people and brings together world class talent in support of a great cause.”

Red Bull BC One heads to Europe in November for World Final showdown.

Westergasfabriek will provide the stage for the world’s best B-Boys to battle it out one-on-one again at the 14th edition of Red Bull BC One on November 4.

Netherlands is home to celebrated crews such as HustleKidz and The Ruggeds as well as 2014 BC One winner Menno – a member of the Red Bull BC One All Stars.

It will be a long 2017 journey, though, for whoever wants to emulate reigning champion Issei after he wowed his home crowd in Nagoya, Japan.

The 19-year-old fought off two-time winner Hong 10 to capture his first BC One title in 2016 after years of regional Japanese and Asian Pacific finals.

This time around, BC One hopefuls go head-to-head in over 35 qualifying cyphers and six camps to determine who makes the Amsterdam cut.

The three-day camps will be held in Spain, Russia, France, Turkey, Japan and Netherlands, reflecting the local creative landscape with lectures, workshops, art exhibitions, club nights and battles.

All the winners will earn the chance to compete for the last open spot, just days before the hugely anticipated World Final gets broadcast to the world.

Leony was one of 38 B-Boys from 35 countries competing at the 2016 Last Chance Cypher, the Brazilian winning through to the World Final.

After the amazing routines displayed in Japan, 2017 Red Bull BC One promises to be the best yet with the planet’s most talented B-Boys feeding off the passionate Dutch crowd to discover the next champion.

Most of you are probably aware by now that breaking has been accepted into the Youth Olympics in 2018.
Here at Bboyworld we are very excited with this development as this will provide a platform for current and future dancers and officially recognize them as athletes.

The Youth Olympics will bring numerous opportunities for the Bboy / Bgirl community worldwide as there will be a need to prepare, train and coach aspiring Olympians both physically and mentally for the pursuit of Olympic gold. Soon we will start to see an increased interest in our culture as well as registrations for dance classes around the world. All of this will bring economic benefits on multiple levels within our culture.

Currently the WDSF is in talks with several people from our community ensuring that the traditions and values of our culture are respected and preserved. Bboyworld fully supports WDSF and we are looking forward to seeing a bright future being built for our new generation of supreme athletes.

Las Vegas resident Vincent Foster, 49, died at UMC, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

NHP’s preliminary investigation said the collision occurred about 11:45 p.m. when a white 2015 Toyota Scion XB taxi that was eastbound on Spring Mountain Road collided with a bicycle being driven by Foster against a “no walk” signal near Mel Torme Way.

“The taxi had a green light and proceeded eastbound toward the intersection,” the news release stated. “Foster was on a bicycle and traveling from the north side of Spring Mountain to the south in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian disregarded the “No Walk” signal and rode into the path of the taxi resulting in a collision.”

Foster was ejected from the bicycle and transported to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries. He died Friday.

A man driving the taxi driver on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The taxi did not have any passengers and the driver was not issued a traffic citation.
