I think one of the biggest differences is the manner in which people learn the dance.
On a positive note people have all these resources to learn what bboying is about so people seem to get started more on the right track these days. But that's also a negative, back in the days when I started you had to be way more proactive to learn the dance, you had to reach out to more people in the community and learn from them, you made more friends because you learned from people. On a negative note, its also much harder to be yourself these days, but anyone still can if they put in the effort. People are lazy in general
