crap.. i just started lifting weights again 2 weeks ago and seriously.. i cant even hit a flare anymore cause ive been doing bicep curls to much. Everytime i try to do a flare i get this sharp pain on my wrist!
Biceps actually don't need to be worked as hard as you think its a really small muscle compared to something like your tricep and quads, and too many curls is actually counterproductive for the growth.
And here is a variation of hammer curls that is worth trying
I'll throw my 2 cents in since I used to be a personal trainer and a bodybuilder. 1rst- if you are lifting weights to generally improve your bboy moves....FORGET IT. You are better off just training everyday on the floor. While there is some degree I guess where added strength should make it easier to hold those hollowbacks and airchairs...it will more than likely do nada...if it doesn't injure you. It all depends on HOW you are going to train with the weights. 2nd- if your wanting to hit the weights to build muscle to look good...to get those guns and the type of build that will make all the lil bgirls whisper to their homegirls .."HOLYSHIT...I WANT 2 BUST A BACKSPIN ON HIS ABS"...then u can still do that fairly "easily". I would keep a LOWER WEIGHT-HIGH REPS exercise routine. This will focus more on building muscle density and definition...takes longer to build muscle mass this way but it will be more beneficial to u in the long run. I would also CONSTANTLY use isolated dumbells..NEVER THE BENCH BAR OR ANY UPPER BODY "COMPOUND"exercises (like using both hands to do bench press, curls, ect.) The reason for this is that you will build more muscle mass as u can lift more...but the ISOLATED exercises will ALSO build those stabilizer muscles. If you were planning on bodybuilding u would of course do both, but u need to keep yourself balanced more.U want to be less worried about bulking up ,and more about having muscle stamina with reall strong stabilizer muscles. ALSO when u do HEAVY LIFTING you are tearing and rebuilding such a large amount of muscle fibers that the new muscle fibers won't be near as elastic as the old muscle tissue...MEANING YOU WILL LOSE FLEXIBILITY ( EVEN IF U CONSISTENTLY STRETCH-my opinion) Freezes, inverts, ect. all use a tremendous amount of stabilizermuscle control. Also remember that u become faster, stronger, ect. when u weight train...BUT THERE IS A POINT THAT U START TO DECREASE YOUR PERFORMANCE. You got to remember that muscle is fueled by oxygen, and the bigger your muscles the more fuel they consume. DO U EVER SEE ANY SWOLL LONG DISTANCE RUNNERS...or a better analogy would be mma fighters. One fighter is undefeatable..then they put on 5-10lbs of muscle(muscle..not fat) over a few months and they come back and you can see that while maybe adding some strength..they have hurt their stamina and speed. ALL I'M SAYING IS THAT AS A BBOY THE LIGHTER THE BETTER. I have brought powerheads into gyms with me and most are surprisingly weak...BUT THEY HAVE THE PERFECT AMT OF MUSCLE FOR THEIR BALANCE,SPEED,AND STAMINA. I was very flexible and decently acrobatic when I was young..(in mid 30s now)..then got into lifting hardcore. I thought if any thing it would help me BUT it amazingly did not as for as dancing. NOW I LOOKED AND FELT GOOD...BUT I LOST FLEXIBILITY AND A LIL SPEED. In my early 20s I was only 198lbs BUT BENCHED 405 LBS...but it was harder to do moves. Lifting WILL benefit you..but I wouldn't want to put NO MORE THAN 10-15 LBS OF MUSCLE AT MOST IF I WAS YOU. Bboy Junior is an exception (he had to walk on his hands since a toddler)and unlike regular lifting he built unbelievable stabilizer mucle control. SHIT..even in the military if your ALL muscle ,BUT weigh over a certain weight they won't let you bodybuild becuz it will slow u down...AND I'M NOT TALKIN ABOUT ARNOLD SWARZENEGGER OR THE ROCK TYPE OF BIG EITHER-peace...and yea I guess I should have PMed this long as post huh
One pain in the ass that comes from doing both is keeping up with the metabolism and consuming enough calories, right now i'm trying to eat 3500 cals and trying to get at least 150-200g of protein a day
How much do you weigh....thats alot of protien if your a "small" guy (dnt know..just saying cuz most bboys are)...and thats alot of carbs your consuming. If your young and active I guess u can get away with it ,but if not it could actually make u fat if your not doing a serious weight training routine and lots of cardio. I guess you lead a highly active lifestyle beyond just dancing I'm sure. I have no doubt you know what works best for you...I was just curious. Props 2 you because it IS really hard to do both whole heartedly -peace

I'm 23, 5'7 and weigh 161. But my lifestyle is pretty active I do weight training (either weights targeting a certain body area or olympic powerlifting) 3-5 times a week and try to get in some bboying as well. Plus my job i'm loading and unloading crates from trucks for 5-8 hours a day so I do have to consume alot to actually maintain/gain weight.
On paper it looks like alot of protein/carbs but my metabolism is still really fast and during my time off from all the training, the weight does hit like a ton of bricks. But I get what your coming from it is alot and bboys my height are usually about 15-20 pounds lighter then me lol
doesnt sound like a lot to me, im an 130 pound girl and i have to eat around 3000 cals a day to maintain my energy when Im exercising a lot. (easier said than done)
dude how about korean bboys?
dont they practice really long throughout midnight?
some of them are pretty ripped and strong
like bboy kill and super b... why?? i saw them in real life, their wrist is abnormally thick
I use to do that all the time, but there have been so many studies on how awful it is for your health
exactly if you go through health articles, health maintanance you can know well that there are a number of false practices that can rather have adverse effects
try total gym it really works and it keeps strain out of your workout.
