Yea my joints/bones are pretty messed up. I take glucosamine/chondroitin supplements, calcium/magnesium, and an herbal joint supplement called Zyflamend. Started stretching a lot more and that seems to be helping with the pain too.

I used to take glucosamine but I would get weird reactions from it. (Rash, etc) Personally, I do not like taking anything that is man-made when it comes to pills. I think twice before taking an Advil but that's just me. The best thing you can do is stretch, warm up before you dance - even though many people don't! If you don't want to look stupid at a jam stretching, do it at home before the jam. Warm up before you stretch.
One of the MOST important parts of ANY training is REST.
A problem I am having right now is muscle strains on my left leg. I can't run because my knees will start hurting after a few miles so I rather go cycling.

I've never heard of anyone getting a rash from glucosamine. It's made from glucose and an amino acid called glutamine. Nothing really man-made there and unless you eat only organic produce most of the things you buy from a supermarket are going to be tampered with by people.
I agree taking Advil or any kind of otc painkiller for an extended amount of time will damage your liver.

We are all built different...joints included...getting your stretching/rest/correct technique etc in order is a must.
On a nutrition tip....always keep adapting, monitering, listening to your body...take advice, try different things...see what works for you.
quality food n plenty of aqua... is a good place to start.
Shellfish has alot of natural stuff that helps keep them joints loose.

hear it and learn!!!!stretching is super important. take a good 15-30 min to stretch. pull the muscles, then breaking is easier, i also dont like stretching at the jam, i do it before and just a mild stretch at the jam. and rest. take protein to repair muscles and just rest so you can push again tomorrow

Peace
some glucosamine is derived thru sea animals, so if your allergic to seafood, that might be the reason you get those reactions...
there are vegan derived glucosamine products, you just have to search them out and read the label, I believe Target sells a brand like that... Happy hunting if you decide to try it again, but glucosamine is excellent for the joints.
As far as overall joint relief, another alternative is Fruits that are natural Anti-Inflamitories, EX: Pineapples,
But if you do decide to do the fruit choice, make sure its fresh fruit or frozen. Processed or canned fruit offers little to no nutritional value.
Another thing to consider is the amount of sugar in fruit, balance the amount of sugar you intake to your body, you shouldn't overdue it, add it to your diet, don't OD on it, as you shouldn't with anything...
Peace

instead of supplementing start by hydrating yourself properly, if the pain persists only then use supplements such as glucosamine. Not all vegan glucosamine will absorb properly, so you maybe running to the washroom for the first 7-10 days while you build up the bacterial in your intestine to absorb the product.
