i found that an interesting part of your interview ness and a point thats hard to disagree with, haha that means i juuuust qualify, seriously tho if it does still bear relevence then i feel it can only be applied to those who are at least interested in the lineage and proudly state their part of the bloodline and have at least know/WANT to know some knowledge of the history, i know kids who teach this shit for a living and they draw a blank at names like George Clinton, it's beyond me a lot of the philosophy i read cast by some on these pages, "isn't hitting beats so played out?" "what is flavor/originality?" etc. its getting to the point where i know I'm in a jam with a whole mess of peeps who I've very little i common with and that's disturbing to someone who felt for years that even tho there might be static in the cypher there was at least a common bond,
I come to these pages and before i watch ANY dancing i first check to see if any og's have dropped any knowledge or if there's some nuggets from the vaults, I'm sure younger cats out there will put that down to my age but if I was 14/15 it'd be just the same cos that was my commitment and that was what i was taught to do if i was seriously down with this, difference is back then to know your history was as much a requirement whereas now it's merely an option, keep up the good work ness and to those who hate on me for dissing straight power FUCK YOU! if you wanna yawn at floorwork and keep a shallow hold on this culture then go away and create your own ding and stop littering ours with your cherrypickin'
this dance started out of many influences and different worlds but through the hardships of life solidified into a bonified culture with unwritten rules, that meant NO touching, NO plundering without commitment to the big picture
rant over, i've tried to keep civil and take everyones opinion and reasoning into account but if my opinion is down to age and those who share my point of view is down to age then ask yourself this..if after just short of 30 years in the game forges that univeral perspective from those who truly care about this dances welfare then surely there must be a reason, can we all just be grumpy jealous men or do we see something? that kind of time in any scene, field or interest only leaves you wanting the best for all involved, the 'self' shit dies down in your 20s and you see things on a way wider scale and anything that fucks with the program sticks out like a sore thumb
