Let's compare breaking to an art gallery.
You have a piece of photo-realism on one side of the room. The average person will see it and will be instantly amazed by it, because it displays such obvious technical skill. It's something they know they could never do.
Then on the other side of the room you have a piece of abstract expressionism. Might be some splashes of paint, seemingly random brushstrokes or blocks of colour on the canvas. The ignorant person will look at this, and will not be impressed. Anyone can splash a bit of paint on a canvas, right? They will think that it looks easy, that they could do it themselves.
But what this person doesn't see is the expression, the feeling, the idea behind the second painting. Also, due to their lack of knowledge of the artform, they are blind to the subtle nuances and the actual skill that goes into it.
I have spoken to people with this mentality many times before, and it applies to any artform. Breaking included.
