hell no bboying is not a sport. i can't believe this poll. bboying may require athleticism, but this is as ridiculous as calling modern dance a sport, and there's some shit they do in ballet and modern dance that the most athletic bboy can never do.

plain and simple
bboying = creativity>athleticism

not to diss sports, but PURE artistic creativity is not a sport.

The medea hasn't defind it yet the last time they defind it they said it was a show if we start to get payed for being an athilete then it's a sport If we get paid for or art then we are artest If we do a show we are entertaners we are all or selfs . but if we all one then no one can own us.Fuck the medea we made it this far on our own.the hip hop colture will never die,they will allways feed off us weather a art a show or a sport but they can't take our soul and that will live on for ever as long as we live by the code each one theach one

Bboying is not a sport. Bboying is a dance. Bboying is in the same category as ballet and tap. Bboying is closer to tap because both can be coreographed but are often done freestyle.

If you watch someone training, you might think that bboying is a sport. If you watch it done in a cypher, you will realize that it is nothing like a sport. If you watch a tap dancer train, you might see them methodically repeating moves over and over with no music, just like how a bboy trains. That doesn't mean its not a dance.

There are a lot of good points being made in this discussion. Think about this though...street racing is not a sport. Nascar and motogp is sport. Martial arts was never considered a "sport". Judo and Taekwondo are now considered olympic sports. If bboying stayed strictly in the cypher, then I would say it's not a sport. But throw the competition, rules, judges in...I say it's a sport now.

some sports like rhythmic gymnastics are coreographed and are a form of expression. the line is so blurry. i used to think that if ur expressing urself, its not a sport, but martial arts and what not can be seen as expression.
