In my opinion, the second you have judges, rules, prize money, and brackets, it's a sport. I don't necessarily think that should have a negative connotation though. Just because something is a sport doesn't change what it is at it's core. It's just a label.

so hip-hop choreo, salsa, tango, ballet, step, jazz, popping, locking, etc all have competitions and all of them have judges... they are more organized than bboy events are...
doesnt make them sports.

It should be kept as just bboying...b/c a "true" sport has a true criteria where there's an objective and a flat out winner and loser. For instance, not to compare cheerleading or figure skating or whatever "sport" to bboying but with these type of activities there's "subjective" scoring and not necessarily a flat out objective for the activity. For sports like soccer, football, basketball, or whatever...the purpose is to score more points, basket, or whatever. There's a time format and who ever puts up the biggest numbers win. With bboying, it's viewed from many views from people and just b/c one says this and the other says that there's really no true winner. This reminds me in White Men Can Jump where Rosie Perez starts telling Woody Harrelson about the art of winning and losing...any remember that?
Once the Media or some huge Corporation finds a way to Market bboying competitions for Huge profits and people outside the HipHop/ bboying culture start watching and supporting it ...sure enough it will become a sport.

Redbull Bcone Have Been Around for a while , Its Being Promoted As an Extreme Sport On There Website And On Youtube. Bcone Has Been on Sport Channels Around The World, Top Legends Have Done Interviews And Commentated for Bcone. Alot of Top bboys have entered, Judges We All Know Have Judged Including Most Of The Bboys You And Me Lookup Too, And Yet Nobody Have Complained About It, That They Are Part Of Pushing This Artform As A Sport On TV And Approve The Extreme sport Label.
How is it not a sport? And no you don't even need judges or prize money for something to be considered a sport. Yes bboying is a dance, but all other dance forms can also be considered a sport. There shouldn't even be any argument about this. Dance is an "art form" and a sport.
