1982-1986 Rip7 rsc
the first to inspire my footwork and take the time to show it to me, not teach it to me, cause in those days they didnt teach, they showed, if you got it you did, if you didnt you didnt. that was 1982-83 Fast Rtr
the original fast, not to be confused with fast break, explained to me how diffrent songs,,called for diffren top rocks and moods in those top rocks loko4 aka lokomotion rtr
picked up where his partner fast left off and showed me the true essence of top rocks. caracter styles, broken rythms, etc. mr joints chif rockers
one of the bx's most famous undergrond boogie boys, he also was a dope breaker, and he was the first i saw incorperate boogaloo rolls and body waves while breaking. one of his most famous moves is the coney island spider, which has evolved into many things and in my opinion also mr wiggls spider walk buck4 rsc (r.i.p.)
the first to say i was "fresh" and started teaching me, made me forget everything i learned and started me again from scratch. his favorite bboy at the time was icey ice and buck wanted to create his own icey ice. i met bucky through robert taylor, aka rocky aka lee from beat street at a jam on crotona ave kuriaki rsc
it was kuriakis idea to teach me all the famous buck4 and kuriaki routines so that i can do shows and enter contesat with them. because of this , it started a long joiurny for me that started as a member of THE SEECRET WEAPON. mr freeze
introduced to me by bucky, in 1984freeze is the one who really help me develope footwork, his footwork is lightning fast, and he has so many switches and angles it was amazing to watch. a month after i met freeze i packed my bags and went to las vegas for 2 weeks just so i can train more with him trac2
iintroduced to me by mr freeze in 1984 and immediately trac started explainign things to me and molding me. since 1984 trac has given me the most important lessons in breaking, and actualy only got on the floor once to show me something. because trac has been teaching me terminology since day one, its easy for trac to just explain things to me. aside frm moves, history, and the true essence of the dance, trac has always been an inspiration for me since i first saw him dance with jojo and speedy in a poe park jam chino aka action nycb
i met mr wave on my block, and he introduced me to chino, and chino and i almost instantly started training me in breaking aswell as martial arts. it was chino who taught me neck moves aka continuous back spins, what you guys call windmmills. frotsy freeze rsc/zulu kings (r.i.p.)
while at the roxy's with mr wave, i saw frosty freeze laying in the cut having a drink, i didnt want to approach him, but being his biggest fan i had to mae sure he saw me dance, so i got down when i knkew he was looking and in my set i did a move he was famous for, the around the world. what y'all call zulu spins.
frosty immeditatly came to me and said, "you know what would loke fly? if you came out of that with swipes. i told frosty i couldnt do swipes and he sat his drink down, and said "com'on, im only going to show you once" lol my swipe lessons turned into body roll lessons and body roll lessons turned into a lifetime frindship. his mom (r.i.p.) would here me say hello on the phone and already knew it was her "second son" and she would say after "heeelloooooo daaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrlllllling" hahaa i miss them both icyice dynamic rockers/magnificent force/nycb
ok, icey ice never actualy "taught" me anything, but because of the way buck 4 taught me, anytime i saw corey do something, i would embarresingly say "i can do that" (i say imbaressingly cause biting was a no no) corey would always say "yeah? let me see" and when i showed him, he would give me blessings, so he didnt teach them to me, but gave me blessings and because of those blessings i have been able to keep 2 icey ice moves alive. the air 4 step, a patened icey ice move, and the sweep swipes, anotehr pattened icey ice move
1998 - present popmaster fabel rsc
man, i cant count how many mves, combos, and ideas for moves and combos this man has given me, the man thinks like a bboy dispite his popping roots. fever1 dvs/rsc
i met fever back in the mid 80's when he was a shorty and me and iceyice moved to seatle. but it was fabel who reunited me and fever as partners to join a project and crew he was working with at the time called HieroPhysics.
fever and i had diffrent foundations, and broke in oppisite directions, so for me to be able to do routines with fever, he had to learn my shit, and i had to learn his, because of this exchange fever and i were able to take the commando style to the next level, and if you hate comandos how they are being done and over used today, well you can blame fever and me! haha as members of rsc everyone said how much alike we were to buck4 and kuriaki and fever and i adopted the new name for rsc "the secret weapon 2" mr wiggles rsc
in 1999 mr wiggels put up the first ever hip hop bboy, popping timeline that still stands today, in doing so, he sparked in me a need to properly learn the history of this dance. aside from that, being crew mates gave me the adgantage of seeing wigs in rare form and it has effected my dance and rose it to new levels crazy legs rsc
what can i say? legs is legs, one of the best to ever do it. legs can sit in a chair and watch you practicve, see what your doing, and help you make it better than what you intended to do from jump street! not to mention he also taught me how to party like a rock star! haha iron moneky
although i wasnt succesful with him, sean was the one who taught me the dynamics of an airflare. and proper hand placement. teknyk
is the one who actuly helped me get the airlfare by breaking it down to what it realy is, and air swipe. (if you think about it an airflare is impossible, a flare is an air move, to make it an airflare would mean to do a flare with no hands, and the mve doesnt look like that at all) ive been ablle to do it 3 times out of footwork and right back in and i have teknyc and sean to thank for that freeze ghost crew
that man has footwork patterns i aint never seen and atleast once ive had to stop him and say "yo can you teach me that?" burn 1 7gem$ rock division
i used to look at burn 1 as the darth vader of breaking in nyc, because of this, i was always scared to aproach him, but in my heart i always knew he was one of the illest cats out there. not what he did, but how he did it, his delivery. so since i was scared to aproach him and talk to him, i just started battling him at everyy jam i saw him at lol. each battle was a new lesson. machine rockforce crew
yea he is my student, nut everything i ever taught him, he fliped it, switched it, and taught me back something new from my own foundation, ive leanred just as much from machine as he has from me. bounce mzk boogie brats
i got an email in 2004 from some canadian cat living in japan saying he wants to learn from me but only has money for a ticket.
i dint know him form a whole in the wal, but i emailed him back, told him training with me is fre, and he could live in my house, in the onth long stay, he managed to teach me a few things aswell and some i still use ken swift original rsc 7gems rock division
my first uprocking lesson ever. i got fustrated and stoped halfway. but afterwards keny explaidn to me how it was hard for him too in the begining because the rocking posture is way diffrent from the bboy posture. motivating me to nevver give up on the rock tip. focus
i sat down and watched a focus class in progress. while he was teaching, i asked as many questions as his students did lol. to this day i havenmt put into effect anything i got from focus, but trust me, a nigga last enough rounds, its goign to get to thepoint where they gonna see focus, and everyone on this list!
get your weight up!!!
Bounce= One of the best footwork if not the best EVER
I love the way he does not wanna be famous or something like that
I think I've seen like 2 hours of his footage and he didn't repeat himself.
2000 Noob Saibot & bgirl Soulstice| LIONZ OF ZION
Got bored one day in D.C., and they introduced me to the dance. Even though all I learned were the basics, it was an eye opener.
2000 - 2004 Spirit(Lacouir Yancey) Bboy Spirit is an OG who lives in Madison, Wisconsin. I can say with confidence that he was a HUGE inspiration to not only me, but other friends at Strife.tv as well. He taught us all the history of hip hop, how to take its positive elements and use it as a powerful tool in our lives.
2005 - 2008 All the African dancers
I lived in Mauritania/Senegal for about 3 years with the Peace Corps. I didn't bboy at all, but I learned that crazy West African drumming dance with the locals. I suppose you can say I went back to the roots. You can get a lot of bboying inspiration from other dances, especially African dance.
2008 - 2010 Born & Physicx| RIVERS CREW
Listen to the music. Listen to the music. Listen to the music! And it was Physicx that taught me how to develop a funk in my dance. Can you believe that? Physicx?! He's definitely a better "dancer" nowadays compared to when he first started. All this made bboying so much more enjoyable. btw, Born's one of the best teachers I've been with. I highly recommend people attending his workshops wherever possible. I think my time with him has made his English skills a little better, haha.
Dyzee| SUPERNATURALZ
Yeah, my footwork was super wack until Dyzee came and helped me out.
2003-2005 Drock from Renegades
I spent a lot of time with Drock. He taught me a lot about bboying and life. 2003-2004 Groonz Master of Rat Pack Crew
I used to take the bus across town after school to go to the middle school where Groonz taught. I was a senior in HS in '03. 2004 Alien Ness
Took a workshop from him in San Francisco 2004 Red Bull Beat Riders --> Ken Swift, Zulu Gremlin, Crazylegs, Cros1 (lecture), Kujo
I was lucky enough to be inducted into the program. I learned from these folks plus many more. 2003-2005 Profo and Bug Id Bandit of the (former) Hound Dawg Truckers
I learned a lot from. I learned a lot from them but mostly indirectly through their students who trained me and inducted me into my crew: Freshest Techs 2004 Freshest Techs: Samsmooth, Noel Rokswel, Dystroy
My crew trained me and taught me everything they know about musicality. They trained me on my form, and on movement vocabulary. If it weren't for them I would be one of those bboys floating around without proper movement foundation.

yea man, spirit was crazy ill, and an amazing person.
thanx for sharing
you met Spirit before? damn, never knew that. He'd be teaching us all the history, plus some kung fu ninja moves, too, along with his Eastern Medicine techniques. That guy loved hip hop and everything that influenced hip hop.
(ah wait, nvm, i just realized you were a judge for an event at my old school UW-Madison few years back)
spirit was a wanderer, hes from down south, then spent time in nyc, then florida, then moved to la. he also was one of the flying tortillas.
his original bboy name was demon spirit, then he found his lord and savior and droped the demon for obvious reasons.
from what poe1 told me, spirit was the first to go out to la and tell cats stories about me, so i was shoked when i went to la and poe1 stepped to me like "yea your alien ness, spirit told us all about you"
