It was an honor and a privilege to consequently throw events at this point in the game in So Cal. I think alot of the reason Freestyle Session gained so much popularity was because of this race(how Charles put it) of doing Airflares and comboing them and doing multiples. I remember the first time I seen Ivan bust them out in practice then when I seen Iron Monkey and Kujo bustin out at Radiotron pre Freestyle Session. Then when I started to do Freestyle Session and just the way every 3 months I did the event from 1-5 just the amount of advancements that were made from 97-98. I mean we went from seeing a handful of people do 1 then by November 98 for FSS5 we had people from Texas bustin out, Europe guys like Benny and Tuff Kid killin combos, and ofcourse the Soul Control crew just pushing themselves. I always hear people saying that there were people doing shit before and bla bla bla but honestly the proof is in the pudding. The Freestyle Session videos with the moves these people were doing captured and era that will never be duplicated. LIke I said it was an honor to provide a platform for these folks to catapult there names into the worldwide scene and create opportunities for everyone to be able to get out and see the world and build a network worldwide that still is alive and kicking to this day. I feel like alot of the new kids on the scene these days dont really realize the importance of these people and that era and its clips like this that remind me.

Pablo was one of a kind man a silent killer. Came to Freestyle Session with his brothers and crushed it. Real Crew steelo. Respect to everyone from Soul Control lucky to call a majority of these guys my friends.

Rest in Peace Pablo!

peace

every now and then i see bboys doing airflares but rarely I can "name" them a true "bboy airflares", that's how I imagined them looking from beginning and I'm glad that my vision of their beginnings where somewhat close to what it was really. I've started dancing 10y ago in poland and for me then it was all around the powermoves, footwork/tops were all neglected in Poland at that times and I'm sad that on the other hand people now neglect power moves but I think it might be because nowadays powermoves look more like gymnastic than bboy moves ;(
big respect for all the oldschool bboys who gave us skills that we can learn right now
big up!
