ok is anybody else ready to admit that k-mel's little hip circles are not some mind blowing dance move. Dude applies some wiggly hip rotation or the shaky knees to the middle of a move and people act like he's onto something.

obviously he has a bunch of things going for him, but really this is not the amazing, versatile dance arsenal the dick riders make it out to be.

yes he would smoke me, I suck. But I also know some actual real good all around dancers so just my 2 cents

no excuses music was fine
and y would u ask the dj to switch beats thats disrespectful and trying to play god we dont battle to pre selected beats we dance to the selection of music the dj provides regardless of whats played the dj was chosen to play what he feels thats y hes the dj and not us
we would all like to dance to the music we know we can vibe out to but does anybody go to the dj before there battle and say play this song cmon man thats jus really lame and counting yourself out
so whats the real reason ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
cardio catching your breath obviously
a small tactic i noticed by a lot of people the good ole switch the music i aint feeling it aka im tired hold up i need to breathe and a excuse
plus in a cypher battle which they were trying to pull off or the feel of it
would u do that no people would talk shit to u saying y arent u going in pussy ...now if the music stopped different story but not the case here
enough said i made my point
so yes he is a legend no ? bout that but yes he obviously was tired no ? bout that either

This battle sucked. I was falling asleep literally. Both dope b-boys and although I don't like K-mels personality, he's a dope bboy as well. They were either too tired to get hype or they weren't feelin the music.

In my humble and honest opinion, the music was horrible. Sure it wasn't "undancable" but man, it just wasn't good at all. The only songs that were okay were the same ol songs that every knows and loves. And even then, just the order and how it was played just wasn't up to par. The vibe of the songs were just all over the place and not consistent or building up hype in any fashion.

And yes, the dancers have to dance to whatever the DJ plays. My gripe with that is that there are a lot of DJs not having great song selection nowadays. The DJ's sole purpose is to play for the bboys/bgirls. You are playing for them, they are not dancing for you. Of course not every single person is going to feel eveyr single song you play, but cmon you have to have music that's gonna work. You should strive not only to find the right music to play, but to know when and how to play it. That's the whole purpose of the DJ.

For instance, if the songs went from Eric B & Rakim to Barry White instead of the other two songs in between, this battle would have been MUCH different. The two songs in between don't carry the same type of feeling Know The Ledge and You Gotta Case do. And for that to happen in the middle of a battle is a big no-no. It just killed the vibe all together.

My post has nothing to do with the dancers, they will feel or not feel the music and how they react is all on them. This is strictly about the music. Because frankly, there is a lot of this going on (although it might not be so apparent, but yeah..) at jams all over..

A lot of DJs need to step it up with the digging, song selection, knowing when to play songs, etc.. Its not fair to the dancers to have to dance to mediocre music or have a beat drop out on them before they start their round..

For a little more insight on how I saw this battle from a DJ perspective check out my blog:
Dusty & Digital: Battle Breakdown

This is not intended as any disrepect but merely some constructive criticism in a way both a DJ and a bboy could understand the flaws and mistakes. This is also merely all my opinion, and as a Break DJ myself, I am really picky about things like this.

Peace & Respect,

Both inspirational in their own respects, props to them.

Remind, haven't seen him when he saw me "attempting an elbow track" in 2003. It's good to see him around. Regardless a beat is a beat, we as Bboys/Bgirls don't really have options to rock better "more suitable songs." Just hold it down no matter what drops in the circle.

I think Flave did a good job mixing, sure there are stuff to nit pick here and there about his song selection but everything else wasn't bad I've heard worst. Seeing that big of a crowd does make me wish I was there, oh well until next time.

I would like to say Kmel and remind are sick Old School niggas. NOTICE they aren't dress in chucks, Khaki pants mesh hats and their style is so original they don't look like anyone and are not on the Band wagon. Props to them for keeping it real and never changing for anyone. Remember doing shows with Kmel in Nyc every weekend one summer. Dude loves to train coolest dude off the dance floor. Dope battle. Remind cool peoples most humble dude i have ever met.
