The music sucked, there's no way i'd battle to half of that shit that was played. I say good for Kmel for refusing to dance to crap like that. The DJ just had a poor selection of songs for that "kind" of battle. For a battle like that, you play shit you would play in the finals. For a battle like that, you're supposed to bring out your freshest beats, dopest cuts, and hardest hitting shit. I refuse to believe the DJ was really "trying" at all. To me it sounded like he was throwing on shit he'd throw on when there is a break from the main battles. When you have two old school star kats out there, you should be playing the best shit you got for em. Its an insult to both Remind and Kmel to give them such wack cuts. The DJ didn't respect the battle, and thats a big no no when the promoters are hyping an exhibition like that.

I will give him his due and say that at least he changed the beats. But by then it was too late, the music killed the battle. It would've been better to let them call each other out when they felt like it, in an actual cypher, and hope someone would catch it on film.

DJs music was alright but these two dudes are funky as hell in their own ways. If you play a straight up battle break like Laura Vane's "Roof Off" that people dig on this site then it would be tight in any other battle but would honestly be boring for these 2 to dance to. It's a tough call and I wouldn't know what to play either. I'd just have a better backup plan lol.

I've been breaking for 10 years so far and I'm not anywhere close to as good as these guys but with each passing year I feel like I start noticing more and more nuance in the way the older generation does things. Gives me a lot to think about.
