I thought the music was fine but seems like kmel just didnt like the selection, Coming from a former DJ switching songs as fast as he did is kinda hard if you don't wanna sound shitty
I hear so many b-boys say that they don't wanna hear the same old, tired, played out breaks at jams or in battles. but in all honesty how many of em actually kill the joint, dance on beat and hit the break? It's like like saying I'm tired of seeing a 6 step so I'm not gonna do it, but in reality your foundation is not there and your 6 step is booty. So before b-boys start crying about hearing a certain joint for the 1,000th time, maybe you need to hear it 1,000 more till you master it and can hit each part. The game has changed drastically due to technology. You got Internet b-boys and laptop robot dj's. Instead of having quality beat diggin dj's at jams, your getting new jack serato dj's with mp3 playlists who will basically do it for free. A real dj is gonna want some dough for all the time and work he has put into this shit. You need to know your records and if you know your records you know your music, and if you know your music you should know how to move the crowd. The funny thing is if the video was watched 10 years ago, nobody would have said shit about the music. But everyone has gotten babied by dj's who have infinite files of mp3s filled with this new school produced bboy joints and funk songs that they have no idea what the covers even look like.

You hit the nail on the head yo...and just to add to it...there's a big difference between having "musicality" and "knowing" a song.

YOOOO WTF!????????????????
WHAT IS YOUR GUYS PROBLEM??
EVERYBODY IS SO QUICK TO TALK SHIT OR ABOUT "WHATS REAL HIP-HOP" ..????
R
funny thing is that nooone on this site knows what real hip hop is, they all got it twisted with the internets version of hip hop.
you might have a few who have a clue, but again, they are either brainwashed, liars, or follower of liars and have forgotten what shit was really about.
My post has nothing to do with the dancers, they will feel or not feel the music and how they react is all on them. This is strictly about the music. Because frankly, there is a lot of this going on (although it might not be so apparent, but yeah..) at jams all over..
A lot of DJs need to step it up with the digging, song selection, knowing when to play songs, etc.. Its not fair to the dancers to have to dance to mediocre music or have a beat drop out on them before they start their round..
This is not intended as any disrepect but merely some constructive criticism in a way both a DJ and a bboy could understand the flaws and mistakes. This is also merely all my opinion, and as a Break DJ myself, I am really picky about things like this.

I feel you 100% and very well said my brotha!!! Very True. Peace.[/quote]
i agree with you completely my brother it would be a treat to receive future or previous battle breakdowns with review of dj & music included, a great idea i must say.
perhaps a video compilation series of jams being spun by mediocre dj's would be interesting i.e. abrupt switches

i would be delighted to indulge in this knowledge sir if you could find the time or motivation to elaborate on the pointsyou've presented. i was not aware that the majority of heads in this online community has their understanding of hip hop twisted by the internets version of Hip Hop(would be a fruitful thread i'd imagine).
brainwashed, liars, or followers of liars in conjunction with the grassroots of Hip Hop?...if this is what the internet version of Hip Hop promotes, then I will be left in a state of flabbergastation

yo respect, but don't be jumping the gun. you can't judge everyone on this site and you definately can't put me or a few other heads into the general.
i got my head screwed on right and ain't no one telling me i don't know shit about hip hop or real hip hop.
