This is also one of the first battles where they are testing this new judging system.
There are 5 Categories:
Fundamentals
Artistic
Dynamics
Execution
Battle
There is one category per judge. After each round the judge gives a rating of 1-5 and its recorded into the computer.
When the battle is finished all the points are put together and brought up on the screen to show the stats of the battle.
Whoever wins the most categories wins. If its tied then the points are added up, and whoever has the most points wins.
They'll be more explanation about the system later.
The system will be in the full works coming R16 in July.

P.S. Hey guys, Sorry. I know its kinda late, but this is the short interview I got with Dyzee about the judging system for R16. I know he explained a lot in the forum too, but this is also for those who didn't read it.
This is almost the same thing as the system at NBL in the states.
I find it works alright and pretty fair when it was with a 3 on 3 but watching it being used on a crew battle I find the system kind of silly. I really hope Korea doesn't use this system anymore because I feel that it will actually hinder korean bboys or any bboy from doing their own styles and will end up trying to find what scores the highest points. I'm all for the all around bboy but what will happen to all the powerheads, footwork masters, and etc that ii love to see.
Also even though they tried to cover every aspect of a competition battle their is so much that goes on in battle that those 5 categories can not cover.
why does everybody want to find out new systems to battle and to judge ...
what is wrong with the old way? it is not that bboy is evolving, that the system have to evolve too...
this is slowing down the battle because after every round, the judges have to show their score first
either way any system is gonna have flaws....how does this system account for repeats or things like that?? it's way more precise but i think it takes away from the actual progression of the battle, which is more of an attack and response type deal....personally i like battles that have a good attack and response going inbetween the crews....
Yo, the problem with points scoring is that you need to define each category on a scale. Take dynamics as an example, how dynamic is a 1? Or 5? How do you differentiate between a 4 and a 5? Is there a set of published criteria, and will it be available to the public to understand and evaluate the judges marks?
For me, it all comes down to the fact that it takes away the essence of a battle, both crews might as well do a seperate showcase for all it matters. In the classic round-for-round judging method, you don't need to worry about scales and criteria because the only criteria you need is set by the first person out. Then all that is left to be done is compare it to the run of the following person and there you have your criteria and the decision is made.
I respect the efforts of those trying to implement a legitimate scoring system into bboying competitions like NBL and R16. But right now it is just an over-complication of a very simple format.
Oh, and I thought Maximum were killing it!

Yeah thats DYZEE's system and IT SUCKS! Caused nothing but problems in Toronto and it sucks that its gonna be used in international comps now. AH WELL. Atleast we still got the cypher??
Art is subjective and these objective categories do nothing but confuse the process of judging and make it more convoluted. It would be much better to simply have the judges point and then explain themselves in their own terms later instead of pigeon holing them to look at one thing. DUMB!
Judging by all the comments here and on youtube NO ONE IS FEELING THIS SYSTEM. So some people gotta get the damn point and stop tryin to turn a dance into some sport bullshit!
